This project caught my eye this week and the next thing I knew all other WIPs were put aside and I was casting on Capucine by Adela Illichmanova. The pattern is actually written for adults but I think it makes a great winter hat for the younger set – balancing parental desires for warmth and coverage and kid’s natural attraction to pom poms and tassels! In order to create a child’s version (age 3 years – 6 years) like the one pictured above, I used Cascade 128 (a bulky 100% superwash merino) and a 5.0 mm needle but otherwise followed the pattern exactly. One skein and a couple of hours and presto – a hat any kid will be happy to wear. Sample is available for test-driving in store.
