Smocked Lace Wrap & Shrug
We’re back in the store today – refreshed and ready for 2013! We hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful holiday, got most, if not all, of their gift knitting finished in time, and is looking forward to new projects and knitting (or crochet, weaving, spinning!) challenges in the New Year. We’re a little late in announcing this month’s knit-along but, not to worry, there’s plenty of time to tackle this gorgeous wrap / shrug from Churchmouse Yarns and Teas in January.

The Smocked Lace Wrap and Shrug is not only beautiful and cozy, it’s also incredibly versatile.
From the Churchmouse Yarns website:
“Jennifer Evans designed this piece with her characteristic mix of romantic and rustic. The vintage smocked lace stitch is easier than it looks. And the simple rectangular shape can be worn as a poncho, a large cowl, or simply a scarf. The shrug, seamed into sleeves, drapes across your shoulders and stays in place with no fuss. Wear it over a pretty dress, or jeans and a T-shirt.”
The store sample is currently in progress – we’ve opted to knit the lace-weight version (there is also a DK-weight option) using Road to China Light from the Fibre Company – a buttery-soft 3-ply blend of 65% baby alpaca, 15% silk, 10% camel, and 10% cashmere – and using a 4.5 mm needle.
The Smocked Lace Wrap and Shrug pattern can be purchased in store or through Ravelry here.
The Knit-Along begins now. To join, simply click here to visit the January KAL thread in the Espace Tricot Ravelry Group and introduce yourself.
You can jump into the Knit-Along any time in January but, if you post a picture of your finished Wrap or Shrug to the thread by January 30th, we’ll enter your name into a draw for a $25 Espace Tricot Gift Card! You can also submit your finished project by sending us a photo via e-mail or stopping by the store!
