In addition to big woolly cowls, we’re often asked for pattern suggestions for more decorative options that still provide some warmth but that can be worn indoors as well as out. The Canaletto Cowl by Megan Goodacre is a great example of something like this – a wide and airy loop with beautiful texture in the form of eyelets and seed stitch. Knit with a worsted to aran weight yarn, the pattern includes two sizes – an infinity cowl that can be looped twice and a smaller neck warmer. Off the top of my head, I think TFA Green Label (hand-dyed, 100% merino), TFA Orange Label (hand-dyed – merino, cashmere, and silk), Rowan Handknit Cotton (100% cotton), Spud & Chloe Sweater (superwash wool and organic cotton), and SweetGeorgia Yarns Superwash Worsted (hand-dyed, 100% merino) would all be gorgeous yarn possibilities for this.
Although it still seems so far away, the Canaletto Cowl also makes a perfect layering piece for the much-anticipated transition to spring…!
