Lisa and I had these projects on the needles FOREVER. We knit lots of things in the meantime but both of these were cast on nearly a year ago (actually maybe a little longer for the Umaro blanket) and only recently were they liberated from their respective project bags and finally completed! I have to admit, I had a little help in finishing the Umaro – Mona took pity on me and finished the last part of it at the end of February. It’s incredibly beautiful in an elegant, rustic way and the super-bulky yarn combined with the lace pattern produced a surprisingly light-weight afghan. This is in the store for now but I’m looking forward to bringing it home one day – it really was made for my place! Lisa re-envisioned the Alpaca Baby Shawl pattern as a shimmering grown-up shawl in SweetGeorgia’s Merino Silk Lace in the Botanical colourway. Knit from the center out, this square shawl is knit entirely in the round. The finished piece is exquisite – silky yet cozy with stunning drape and gorgeous depth of colour. Although they took us a while, we love these projects and highly recommend both the process of knitting them and the final results!
