Free pattern Friday: Campside

Campside by Alicia Plummer is a beautiful triangle shawl knit in a DK-weight yarn.  The shape lends a classic feel while the colour and texture lend a beach-y, casual vibe. We love the feeling this shawl evokes and can imagine keeping it close and reaching for it all summer long – a perfect carry-everywhere accessory for cool evenings and cold offices.  The version shown is knit with Julie Asselin’s Leizu (a merino and silk blend). We think this would also be great knit with Butterfly Super 10 Cotton, Rowan Creative Linen, or Hemp for Knitting allhemp6Lux.

This is lovely, thank you for sharing! I love the way it’s being modelled too, it is very evocative of summer nights, and makes me think of camping and beaches 🙂

I love this shawl, too, and downloaded it when it first became available. Apparently, there are a number of problems with the pattern though, according to Ravelry. Has the pattern been updated with corrections since it was first published?

Hi Candice – unfortunately, we haven’t yet knit the Campside shawl so can’t really speak to whether there have been updates / corrections made to the the original pattern… It seems that more than 500 people have now made it though so hopefully this means any issues have now been worked out or clarified. Sorry I can’t be more definitive!

Well, I started Campside and have had zero problems with the pattern. I followed the advice from some Ravelry knitters which has helped. It is a very easy pattern and the results are darling. I’m sorry the negative comments on Ravelry kept me away from attempting the shawl. It is pretty straightforward. Thanks for sharing it.
