LÉGER REDUX
This is a slight modification of our LÉGER sweater. It’s knit with a lighter weight yarn and features a smaller neckline and narrower sleeves than the original. We used Juniper Moon Zooey for this version and love the rustic look and feel of the fabric created by the gorgeous cotton and linen blend. Summer Commitment Bag
This is a larger version of our Summer Fling Bag (scroll down page to view). It is the perfect bag for strolling around town, going to market or a day at the beach! The bottom is knit flat and then stitches are picked up for knitting the main body in the round. Straps are then knit flat one at a time and are joined using Kitchener stitch. If you wish to knit a cross-body style bag then an extra skein of the Kilim yarn will be required.

MAYU
Mayu is an easy to wear pullover that is perhaps best described as a stylish poncho with sleeves. The tweediness of the Fine Donegal and the soft halo of the Silk Cloud combine to create a beautiful fabric that is both slightly rustic and decidedly sophisticated. The left back of sweater is knit first, stitches for right half are picked up from cast on edge. Front is knit separately. After sewing up the sweater, the turtleneck is added by picking up stitches around the neck opening.

SIMPLE MODERN THROW
So, calling this a pattern may be stretching things a little but we received so many requests for specifics after Lisa blogged about knitting it for her home that we had to share this very simple recipe. A modern colour-block throw works in just about any space, and soft and squishy garter stitch always brings warmth and comfort. Lisa decided on a 1/3 to 2/3 split for her version but this is an opportunity to play with colour. Do equal halves or use more than two colours! It’s a mindless, soothing project that lends itself well to knitting in company or while watching TV. A perfect choice for calming frayed nerves. 🙂

Wrapped in Lino
Wrapped in Lino is similar to our Kigali Nights Shawl but is much wider and larger, and the
whole piece is knit in stockinette. It remains a parallelogram with both ends knit using short rows to create sloped lines. The pattern is easily modified by casting on more or less stitches and changing the length of the stockinette section. This, however, will affect the required yardage.

LE PETIT PARISIEN
Le Petit Parisien is a light, stylish accessory with gorgeous texture and Parisian flair! It’s knit from the bottom up with a one stitch garter border and an increase at each end of every right row. On the last row an increase is done every 3 stitches in order to gain more width at the top edge.

Kigali Nights
Kigali Nights is a beautiful, vibrant wrap knit during a recent trip to Rwanda. The shawl is a parallelogram with one end sloping more than the other. It begins with stockinette and short rows, which creates a gentle slope. Half-way through the pattern switches to reverse stockinette with short row shaping at the end creating a steeper slope.

FANCY ZEBRA
A fun and cozy cowl knit in the round from the top down. Warm and snug around the neck with increasing circumference towards the bottom for ample coverage around the chest and shoulders. LE MONT ROYAL
A lovely, cozy shrug that can also be worn as a scarf. A simple rectangle, with buttonholes on one side. When the knitting is finished, simply fold it in half lengthwise, sew on your buttons et voila! I was “thinking” about going to your store but now I “have” to go.
I’m working on the chevron baby blanket right now. It’s suprisingly simple. However your pattern is incorrect/has 2 typos.
Firstly, where it says “repeat until last 13 sts”, the instructions thereafter take 14 sts ( K1, YO, K9, K2tog, K1 = 1 + 1 + 9 + 2 + 1 = 14).
Secondly, you must cast on 131 sts not 121. Otherwise, “until the last 14 sts” skips the YO on the last “peak” in the pattern and you end up decreasing by 1 st every other row on that side.
Hi Tori – thanks for your message. We’ve had lots of folks make the blanket with no problem casting on 121 stitches. Note that a YO creates a stitch but does not use an existing stitch to do so. That’s why only 13 stitches are required before beginning the last section… Please let me know if this helps clarify or if you still have trouble. 😉
Ah, I was taking YO to mean move-yarn-over-and-knit-one. I’m not sure where/if I learned it that way… I consider myself an intermediate knitter… Oh well, it’s pretty as it is now! I really should have looked it up, haha. Thanks for the clarification!
This is probably also Lizanda’s problem. If I don’t add in that K1 for every yarn over I would have exactly 10 more sts to work with so 121 would have worked out perfectly.

Good morning! I started knitting the Chevron blanket, but my stitches are not working out in row 1 already! I repeated the pattern as instructed, but I have either more or less that 13 stitches left? What am I doing wrong? It is 121 to cast on right? Please help, would love to knit it!
Hi Lizanda – it’s definitely 121 to cast on. I’m not sure what may be happening – did you confirm that you are completing the SSK and mitered decreases correctly?
ssk = slip, slip, knit. Slip two stitches
separately as if to knit, then place the
left needle into the fronts of these two
stitches and knit them together
md = mitered decrease (slip 2 sts tog
as if to k2tog, k1, pass the 2 slipped
sts over.

Split Personality Scarf: I read this to mean that you could select Madeleine Tosh OR Filatura di Crossa yarn. Went to Purl Soho in Manhattan and bought the Madeleine Tosh (it’s the only one they had). Now I’m re-reading the directions and it appears that I need Both Is this correct? Thanks for clearing this up!
Yes, you definitely need both – but you could substitute Rowan Kidsilk Haze or Shibui Silk Cloud for the Superior if you have difficulty locating it. Good luck! We’re also happy to ship if you would do want to use the Superior.

So many “easy” patterns/garments aren’t as pretty as the more difficult projects (lace, charts, unique stitches etc…) I can’t wait to cast-on, which I do first? Decisions, decisions!

I am not a big crocheter, I am much better at knitting. Having said that, why not! Thinking about the texture of our blanket, I propose to use an airy, not too heavy stitch for a crochet border.

I recently found your site and love your gorgeous patterns. Can you tell me what the difference is between the Chevron Baby Blanket is from the original Colour Block Blanket? I know it says it was updated from the original Colour Block Blanket (which I love) but I can’t find that pattern. Are they the same just in different colours?

I have a question regarding the beautiful Mayu pullover, on which I am working with great pleasure. Near the end of the instructions for each of the two back elects, the pattern calls for rows in stockinette. But that is what the rest of the pattern has been in up till now. What is different in these flows, and should I continue the edge pattern of wyif, ss1, etc?

The slipped stitch edging ends where the sleeves begin. No more slipped stitches, the whole fabric is stockinette stitch, since that part of the back is going to be seamed to the front.

I love your blog and your store looks amazing! I have two questions. The first is regarding Fancy Zebra. I am allergic to mohair, so what could I substitute? Also, for the Scrumptious Stripes Socks, how do you do the heel so there is no pooling or disturbance of striping on the front.

Concerning your questions: Fuzzy yarn without mohair is not that hard to find, try a brushed alpaca, for example. Unfortunately we do not carry the Drops Brushed Alpaca anymore, but that would definitely make for a good replacement. We have the Lang Lusso, that only has 18% Superkidmohair (which is the softest Mohair you can find), the rest is Merino Silk and Baby Camel).
When it comes to the sock, the only way to avoid a ‘disturbance’ is to knit the heel in a solid color and as a short row heel so you don’t have the gusset with the decreases. If you work the regular heel, even with a solid, you always will get slight variances because of the extra stitches of the gusset. I just accept it that way, it doesn’t bother me. I hope that helps.

I’m trying the chevron blanket and all is going well until row 3. My MD stitches are not lining up. I feel as though everything has moved over one space. Where can I be going wrong?

Since I cannot see your knitting, I will have to guess what is going wrong. The only thing I can think of at this point is that you probably have lost or forgotten one of the yarn overs the row before. Otherwise there is no way to offset the pattern.

I love your patterns! I’m interested in knitting the Au Chalet Blanket but it’s a huge project. I’d love to do it in a colour, but given the size, am thinking that maybe a neutral is smarter. Thoughts on how to pick a colour for a big project?

I am a colour loving person – but if you are going to put hours and hours of work into a big project like this you might want to go neutral just because this way the blanket will be more versatile, meaning you will be able to use it in more rooms in your house without it clashing with an existing colour scheme. Then again, if there is a colour you particularly love and it will go with the shades in your living room, for example, you probably will be very happy with the result also.
Just my two cents – the decision is really up to you. Best of luck! 😉

I’m interested in knitting the chevron baby blanket for my niece’s baby. I’ve seen some pictures on Ravelry where the points at the top and bottom of the blanket curl up, and want to try to avoid that by adding 2/3 garter stitch rows before the main stocking stitch. If I do that, would you recommend doing the garter stitch rows in pattern (with the yarn overs etc) or just plain?

If you do not like the slight curling edges, a garter border will indeed help prevent that. Please do work in pattern, it will look better.

You can do this easily yourself. Melissa cast on 80 sts, at a gauge of 18 sts these will give you a circumference of 17 3/4″. Depending on your gauge with your DK yarn pattern you need to cast on enough stitches to get to 17 3/4 stitches, if your gauge is 20 sts, I would cast on 88, if it is 22 sts, I suggest 96 to make the decreases work.

I am working on the Mayu pattern. When you place the first marker, I’m supposed to have 109 st. And I’m counting 253, so i think theres a misunderstanding on the wyif. Can you help me figure out where I went wrong?

At no point of this pattern should you have 253 stitches on the needles, so unfortunately I am at a loss what went wrong. For the smallest size you start with 118 sts, and after the decreases on the bottom back there will be 109 left. The marker is placed as help for seaming after.
I would like to help you further, but without more information, I do not know what is the issue with your sweater.

I am about to start the chevron baby blanket and would like to increase by 24 stitches. I am using the Blue Sky Organic Cotton. Would I need another skein of each of the colors to increase the size. I’m almost finished with rhis gorgeous baby blanket! When I bind off, do I just do a knit bind off or bind off in pattern?

In the Leger Redux pattern I’ve encountered a problem and wondered if anyone else has. The back worked up fine, nice and even on the two sides. But the two sides of the front, however, come out uneven by following the directions. When I got ready to do the three needle bindoff, I had 28 on three shoulders and 16 on one. The K 44 moved the center 4 sts away from the center if doing a stitch count. Should it have been K 42 like the back?

After reading your comment, I went over the numbers of the pattern again and have to say the math is correct. From what you write I assume you knit the smallest size where it is asked to knit 44 on the front and then bind off 7 stitches for the neckline? Having 95 stitches in total, two times 44 is 88, plus the 7 bound off stitches makes a total of 95.
Since I cannot see you knitting and go from there, I want to ask you to check your decreases and compare with the pattern – maybe that will clear the problem?

I’ve just started working on the Mayu and I have a couple of questions. When I finish the left back and start the right it states to pick up and knit the # for the size I’m doing from cast on edge. Now is that cast on edge from the left back?
Then on the front after you do the cast on and do the stockinette stitch you do a knit row you state a turning row(?) which refers to what?

Yes, indeed, when picking up the stitches for the right back, you pick them up from cast on edge of the left.
The front is knit separately, and the ‘turning row’ is a WS row that is knit instead of purled so you can fold over the hem easily to sew to the inside.

It depends what cast-on you used. If you did the long-tail cast-on it will always have a purl row at the edge.
The pattern says knit RS row, purl WS row.

Hi I am knitting the leger redux pattern & having a problem with back neck having a problem with WORD ws row on left back, bind off 8 sets on neck edge once, then 4 sets, then 2 sets please help

Thank you for pointing this out – there s a typo in the pattern – it should say WORK, not word. After you are done binding off the middle stitches and finish the RS row, you purl the WS row. At the beginning of the next RS row, you bind off 8 sts, work WS row, bind off 4 sts….etc. until the decreases are done.
